Senior Accountant

Position overview

Senior Accountant at Vetropack Romania is a managerial role responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations. This position plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the overall efficiency of accounting processes.

Objectives of the Role

• Oversee and manage the company’s accounting and financial reporting processes, ensuring compliance with Romanian accounting standards (RAS), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and fiscal regulations.
• Be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing timely financial statements, and ensuring adherence to tax and legal requirements, thereby supporting the company’s financial health and operational efficiency.
• Represent company in local public fiscal authorities.

Key responsibilities

Accounting Operations

• Ensures the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Oversees the day-to-day accounting activities, including bookkeeping, payroll, and financial transactions.
• Maintains the company’s general ledger and other accounting records.
• Executes month-end accounting activities in accordance with Romanian legislation and in accordance with Swiss GAAP.
• Prepares and submits annual financial statements in accordance with the Accounting Law (Legea Contabilității) and Swiss GAAP.
• Maintains the mapping of the chart of accounts between the leading ledger and local GAAP. Ensures timely reconciliation between all accounting books.
• Participates in auditing procedures and other control activities. Collaborates closely with external and internal auditors to ensure timely completion of audit procedures within the contracted terms.

Tax Compliance

• Prepares and submits tax reports, import/export documentation, and re-export documentation in a timely manner.
• Cooperates with tax authorities during tax reviews.

Internal Controls and Procedures, Regulatory Compliance

• Prepares, submits for approval and monitors internal company procedures, ensuring alignment with group and legal standards, as well as VPC guidelines.
• Monitors changes in reporting requirements and other relevant legislation. Updates the company's accounting policies, accordingly, ensuring alignment with both local and Group standards. Implements these changes in internal procedures in a timely manner.

SAP System Management

• Actively participates in the role of the FI Key user in the implementation, upgrade, and maintenance of the SAP system, ensuring compliance with legal and Vetropack Group requirements.

Requirements

• University degree in Finance or Accounting; professional certifications (ACCA, CECCAR) are an advantage.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, including work with RAS, IFRS, and tax reporting.

• Practical experience with SAP FI; involvement in implementation or system support is preferred.

• Solid knowledge of Romanian legislation and Swiss GAAP principles.

• Experience working with tax authorities and participating in audits.

• High level of responsibility, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.

• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
