Technology and Projects Director

Location: Bulach, Switzerland (prefferably)



  • Lead direct team and matrix employees in the Vetropack plants
  • Ensure the position of the Vetropack production units as the benchmark in the European glass industry regarding production technology and innovation
  • Develop and implement a group wide technological strategy with the aim to improve productivity, quality and total cost within the boundaries of regulatory requirements
  • Organizational and strategic preparations for the annual technical strategy meetings including execution
    • Updating of data for furnaces and production equipment
    • Coordination with the plants in the assessment of all investment projects
    • Responsible for setting up of the plant and group investment plans
  • Jointly responsible for the execution of investment projects in time and within the budget in close cooperation with the Technical Directors of the plants such as:
    • Setting up of specifications
    • Requesting and evaluating offers
    • Participation in purchasing negotiations
    • Execution of investment projects
    • Monitoring of deadlines and costs
    • Acceptance tests of the installed equipment and facilities
  • Close cooperation and support of the Performance team in achieving common departmental goals
  • Introduction, maintenance, and further development of: standardized tools for project management with deadline and cost tracking, an energy management system and a technical performance indicator system (KPIs) for the installed production facilities
  • Introduction of best practice processes to achieve the Vetropack Group's production and quality goals, such as maintenance and repair processes
  • Collaboration with business units and group functions to achieve the strategically defined goals
  • Coordinating and ensuring the transfer of technology know-how and project management within the Vetropack Group
  • Ensure appropriate and sustainable production facilities with a high degree of automation and standardization within the Vetropack Group
  • Ensure appropriate and sustainable technology for container glass production and their standardization in order to achieve the 2050 carbon footprint targets
  • Ensure the implementation of projects to pursue the overall Vetropack Group 2030 strategy
  • Execution of technical due diligence as part of the Vetropack Group's M&A activities
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations, quality and environmental standards
  • Participation in European and international working groups and associations
  • Planning and responsibility for the budget and resources for the respective area



The Successful Applicant

  • University degree in a relevant field of study, Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years production/technical experience and at least 3 in a similar function
  • Good written and verbal communicator with fluency in English
  • Acts as role model and lives continuous improvement mind set in the team
  • Act as a change agent able to communicate effectively, listen and challenge the status quo
  • Able to translate business strategy and company goals into relevant departmental goals/KPIs setting the right direction
  • Results oriented, hands-on, strong problem solving capabilities
  • Able to lead remote teams, in a matrix organization, working closely with production sites building a strong network, supporting development and coaching
  • Prepared to travel 50%
